Fespaco 2019: China offers 16 million CFA francs to the organizing committee

It’s only a few days to the opening of the 26th edition of the Pan-African film and television Festival in Ouagadougou (Fespaco). The launching ceremony takes place on January 15th in Paris. Ardjouma Soma, the general delegate of this event, will seize the opportunity to throw highlights on preparations for this fiftieth anniversary of the Fespaco.
This edition will bring together 3000 professionals of the cinema professions. These are 20,000 people expected at the opening ceremony at the Municipal Stadium. And 5000 spectators at the closing ceremony at the Palais des Sports in Ouagadougou 2000.
Fifteen African ministers in charge of cinema and the audio visual landscape will be present. With them, ten presidents or directors-general of international and regional institutions (UNESCO, African Union, European Union, OIF, ECOWAS, UEMOA, Conseil de L’entente, etc.
In short, the Fespaco is benefitting from a lot of support. The organizing committee, through the Burkina Faso minister of Culture, Abdoul Karim Sango, received a cheque for 16 million CFA francs and 60 tablets last December.
Beyond the material aspect, a Chinese television channel is expected at FESPACO 2019. She will be in charge of carrying out reports on the festival in order to raise awareness of Burkina in China. “Chinese technicians composed of cameramen and photographers will serve the people of Burkina Faso while accompanying the FESPACO,” said Li Jian, Chinese ambassador to Burkina Faso.
