In the hands of the sculptor Ky Ketan who is responsible for making the effigy of the director, the Project  «Dikonguè Pipa Monument Ouagadougou 2019″ is gradually taking shape. The director is the only Cameroonian to have won the « Yennenga d’or » at the Fespaco in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (1976), the traits of the father of « Muna Moto » are already clearly drawn. The house of production for audio-visual films and documentaries and also initiator of this project. This is illustrated by a few pictures broadcast by Cordia Prod…

There is assurance from the project leaders that, « things are moving forward. » But not at the pace desired by the organization. In fact, at a time when the project is in the fundraising phase, funding is still being waiting. The financial side is the main difficulty to the evolution of this project. This is due to the fact that the filmmaker is not very present in the memories of his fellow citizens, so we are told. The project suffers mainly from the fact that Dikonguè Pipa is not well known in his own country. Making the fundraising operation and the sponsorship process are more complicated, reveals the Director General of CordiaProd, Marie-Christine Whassom.

According to the DG of CordiaProd, the project of erecting the monument of Dikongué Pipa allows for a remarkable presence of Cameroon in Ouagadougou during the 50 years of the Fespaco in 2019. Equally, erecting the monument along the column of artists (alongside other giants of African cinema) « aims to honor one of the fathers of Cameroonian cinema whose work has allowed the Cameroonian flag to be visible in the seat of Fespaco. Before adding that « it is more globally about putting lightning in Cameroonian cinema that suffers from being always in the shadows. » Celebrating Dikongue Pipa aims at encouraging merit and bring young people who embrace this sector to have strong landmarks, and to dream big. Young Cameroonian filmmakers need to know their history to better build the future. The project which already benefits from the moral guaranty of the State through the Ministry of Arts and Culture, still awaits the financial support promised by the government. Everything has to be in place two months before the opening the Fespaco since its 50th edition is scheduled from 23 February to 2 March 2019.
