Mounira Mitchala: A Melodic Force for Peace and Cultural Change

By  |  0 Comments

Chadian singer and activist Mounira Mitchala has built a career where music serves as a tool for peace, unity, and cultural preservation. Born in N’Djaména in 1979, she originally trained as a clerk but discovered her passion for music in the late 1990s. Through dedication and mentorship from renowned African artists, she honed her craft and released two impactful albums: Talou Lena (2008) and Indépendance (2012).

Her commitment to social causes earned her multiple accolades, including the RFI Discovery Prize (2007) and the KORA Award for Best Female Artist in Central Africa (2012). Beyond music, she has acted in films, championed girls’ education, and fought against child marriage. In 2025, she organized the Giant Female Concert for Fraternity, Unity, and Peace, reinforcing her role as a cultural ambassador.

Now, through the Mounira Mitchala Foundation, she continues to uplift marginalized communities, demonstrating that music is more than entertainment—it is a force for change.
