The former Miss France has been spearheading social projects in her homeland for 17 years.

Sonia Rolland, Miss France 2000, is not only an actress and former beauty queen. With her mother, she created a charitable association 17 years ago to help poor children in her homeland. Rwanda, her mother’s country of origin, is rooted in her heart. On December 17, she assembled a celebrity audience at a gala dinner to raise funds to finance the projects of her association (Maïsha Africa).

The event held in Paris saw the passing on its red carpet, Aïssa Maïga, Emmanuelle Béart, Noemi Lenoir, Harry Roselmack, Khadja Nin, Vaimalama Chaves (Miss France 2019) and many former Miss France. At the end of the evening, Maïsha Africa was able to raise 125,000 euros to support the Musanze Hospital project. This association works in the social, moral and psychological reconstruction of the children of Rwanda. She also finances integration and schooling projects.

Sonia Rolland, the first Miss France of African descent, has a reason to smile this year. She broke up a few weeks ago with her companion Jalil Lespert. After nine years of common life, Sonia Rolland said she was no longer satisfied with a relationship that gave her no support.
