Burkina Faso cries out for its great figures in the cinema. After Idrissa Ouédraogo in 2018, it was the turn of Saint-Pierre Yaméogo to leave. He died on April 1st in Ouagadougou after a prolonged illness. At age 63.

The late great figure firmly believed in a cinema that is much more commited. This is why he has been confronted repeatedly with censorship. But never did he relent. He denounced injustices, abuses, retrograde traditions, rape, incest, corruption, the selfishness of the elites, etc.

Saint-Pierre Yaméogo was born on May 15th 1955 in Koudougou, a small town located a hundred kilo meters from Ouagadougou. After a local training, he studied in France and the United States. He directed his first film in 1987.
